About the Journal

The Revista de Historia de la Lengua Española (RHLE) is a scientific journal of the Asociación de Historia de la Lengua Española. It is dedicated to the publication of unpublished research and studies on historical linguistics and the history of the Spanish language in any of its sub-disciplines and scientific orientations. It is aimed at researchers in the history of the Spanish language (members and non-members) and the university and academic public (teachers, researchers and students).  The journal offers the content of all its issues in digital format and free access. That means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Since the appearance of its first issue in 2006, the journal has been published exclusively in print thanks to the publishing house Arco / Libros. Following the technological changes that scientific publications have undergone in recent years and the new requirements of the evaluation agencies, RHLE will be exclusively electronic from 2021, in PDF format, in open access and adapted to the international requirements and standards that ensure the scientific quality of its contents. The previous printed articles are also available.

The RHLE Editorial Team consists of research members who are recognised and qualified experts in the fields of study closely related to the journal and its composition reflects the aims and the scope of the journal.

The Editorial Team advises and ensures the scientific quality of the publications and their maintenance over time. The Editorial Board, in accordance with the confidential reports of external evaluators, decides on the publication of the articles received, which must always be unpublished originals. The language of the RHLE is Spanish. However, articles in other languages will be accepted with the approval of the Editorial Board.
