Submission preparation checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check that their submission meets all the elements shown below. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to authors.

  • The article is unpublished and original. It has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF format.
  • Wherever possible, web addresses are provided for references. DOI references have been added where possible.
  • The author of the article accepts the rules for authors, which can be consulted on the journal's website, and has ensured that his/her text complies with the bibliographic and stylistic requirements indicated.
  • All illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text.
  • None of the data presented in the article has been plagiarised, invented, manipulated or distorted. Original data are clearly distinguishable from published data.
  • All sources of funding granted for this study are acknowledged, indicating concisely the funding agency and the identification code.
  • The article takes into account and follows the RHLE code of ethics and good practice.
  • All the authors were involved in the planning, design and execution of the study, as well as in the interpretation of the results. They have critically reviewed the work, approved its final version and agree to its publication. No responsible signature has been omitted from the paper and the criteria for scientific authorship are met.
  • Authors shall ensure that their name is completely anonymised in the text submitted in order to guarantee the objectivity of their evaluation.
  • The authors acknowledge that the publication of this work implies the assignment of copyright to the Revista de Historia de la Lengua Española, which reserves the right to distribute the published version of the article on the Internet under the terms of a license of use and distribution "Creative commons  Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)". By making the article available in this format, the authors comply with the provisions of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, article 37.3, regarding the obligation to make the results of research funded by Public Research Institutions available in open access.

To submit articles, you will need to register first. Names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated in this journal and will not be provided to third parties or used for other purposes.

This journal uses the ORCID® persistent digital identifier as an author standardisation system.

There is no charge for the editorial handling of submitted articles.

Please ensure that the article has been adapted to the RHLE editing and submission guidelines. Originals that do not fully or partially comply with them will be returned to their authors for inclusion.

Originals received will be considered final for printing purposes. The author will receive first proofs, in which he/she will only be able to correct typos and errors, and update bibliographical references that were in press at the time of sending the paper. Authors will have fifteen days to return the proofs.

If the original requires maps, graphs, charts, tables, figures or photographs, they must be of sufficient quality, numbered and bear a brief caption or legend.

Likewise, authors are obliged to request, in due time before publication, the necessary permissions for the reproduction of texts, images or any other partial or complementary documentation whose publication may require prior authorisation from their authors, in accordance with current legislation.

The secretariat will acknowledge receipt by the authors of the papers received. Before submitting it to peer review, Editors may reject those papers when it considers that they do not fit in with the content of the journal, do not meet the formal and content standards or do not comply with the established ethical principles.

All articles that pass this first review will be submitted to an external double-blind peer review, in which at least two reviewers proposed by the Editorial Board and/or the Scientific Advisory Board will participate.

Editors undertakes to take the necessary diligence to ensure that the time period between the submission of the article and its acceptance for definitive publication is as short as possible. It will also keep the authors constantly informed of the whole process and will issue the appropriate certificates as required.

Reviews

Reviews belong to the category of content considered as purely informative. They are in a separate section (informative), clearly differentiated from the other (scientific) section, which includes articles and notes, as they obey different criteria. Reviews do not have to pass the peer review process.
